At The Game Awards on December 11, 2025, Crystal Dynamics and publisher Amazon announced Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the next mainline entry in the Tomb Raider franchise. The reveal trailer, shown during the ceremony, places Lara Croft in Northern India as she confronts a mysterious enemy. The short footage features exploration and action beats, including Lara using dual pistols and acrobatic movement. The developer said the game is expected in 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Crystal Dynamics continues to lead development while Amazon will publish the title. Amazon is also developing a separate live-action Tomb Raider series starring Sophie Turner, which the company says will enter development in February 2026.
Tomb Raider began in 1996 and the last mainline entry was Shadow of the Tomb Raider in 2018. The Game Awards tease earlier in the week had hinted at Lara’s return, and fans picked up on that lead-up in the days before the show through social posts and promotional snippets; read the Geoff Keighley coverage for more on the buildup.
