The MongolZ defeated Liquid 2-1 in the FISSURE Playground 2 semi-final on 20 September 2025, securing a spot in Sunday’s grand final in Belgrade. The Mongolian side looked clinical on Dust2, recovered after a messy Mirage, and closed the decider on Ancient.
Dust2 was a rout: The MongolZ hammered Liquid 13-3 as Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren dominated with a 1.82 rating, a 105 ADR, and a +11.89 round swing. Liquid answered on Mirage, where Guy “NertZ” Iluz and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken combined for a 6-0 T-side that ended the map 16-5 and forced a third map.
The decision shifted to the Mongols. They led 9-3 at half and held their nerve after a short technical pause for a headset issue; a pistol ace from Ayush “mzinho” Batbold and a late, clutch kill helped seal a 13-5 finish. Mzinho finished the series as the top-rated player with a 1.54 rating, 52–31 K–D, and 106.3 ADR across maps.
Liquid pushed at times, Keith “NAF” Markovic even pulled a smoke defuse to stop map point, but the MongolZ always had an answer. The win ends Liquid’s run at FISSURE Playground 2 in the semis and sends The MongolZ to face the winner of FURIA vs Falcons in the final.
The MongolZ, who won the Esports World Cup in August, can lift a second 2025 trophy if they get past their final opponent in Belgrade.
