After eight straight series losses to Vitality, The MongolZ have finally turned the tide, securing a 2-0 victory in the semi-finals of BLAST Bounty 2025 Season 2. This win marks their first-ever series triumph over the European powerhouse led by Dan “apEX” Madesclaire. Quite the moment for the Mongolian squad, huh?
Since their initial encounter at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, The MongolZ had struggled against Vitality in eight best-of-three or best-of-five series, managing just three map wins. Wow, that’s an authoritarian streak to break, but they did it when it counted.
Their work isn’t over yet. The MongolZ, led by Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren, will face off against Spirit, the IEM Cologne champions, in the grand final after Spirit dispatched MOUZ in their semi-final.
Match Highlights
Vitality started strong on Mirage, dominating the opening rounds with a 4-0 lead, including a clutch 1v2 from Robin “ropz” Kool. But the MongolZ fought back, stringing together successful repeat A site hits and a clutch from Usukhbayar “910” Banzragch to tie the game at 6-6. The second half belonged to The MongolZ, who stormed to a 13-7 win, highlighted by a 3v5 anti-eco and an ace from 910.
Inferno, Vitality’s pick, saw The MongolZ take a commanding 10-2 lead on defense, thanks to aggressive plays from Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold and 910. Despite Vitality clawing back with crucial multi-kills from apEX, The MongolZ held firm. An important moment came when bLitz crouched under Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut’s AWP shot during a 1v1 clutch, turning the tide and securing match point. The MongolZ closed out Inferno 13-11, sealing the series 2-0.
910 and Senzu spearheaded the CT side of Inferno, and the MongolZ looked composed and confident throughout. Yikes, can you imagine how frustrating it must be for Vitality to get toppled like this finally?
