HBO has announced The Last of Us Season 3, making headlines just days before the highly expected premiere of Season 2. This move was somewhat expected, considering showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann had previously hinted that the upcoming season would only cover part of the narrative from The Last of Us: Part II.
“We approached Season 2 with the goal of creating something we could be proud of. The end results have exceeded even our most ambitious goals, thanks to our continued collaboration with HBO and the impeccable work of our unmatched cast and crew,” said Mazin in a statement reported by Variety.

Druckmann echoed this sentiment, calling his involvement in the TV adaptation a “career highlight.” He expressed gratitude for fans’ enthusiastic support, which is very important for any project based on such favorite games.
The eagerly awaited Season 2 will debut this Sunday, April 13, showcasing fan-favorites Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. New cast member Kaitlyn Dever will join them as Abby, heightening high hopes among viewers.
According to HBO’s announcements, they might plan for a total run of four seasons for The Last of Us. On the gaming side, no fresh entries have been revealed following the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. Currently, Naughty Dog’s focus appears to be shifting toward developing a new intellectual property titled Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
