The Division 2 won’t be available to buy through third-party digital resellers

The Division 2 will secure its own zero ground by selling exclusively on two digital stores. The game will be only available on Uplay and Epic Games Store, and will definitely avoid Steam. If you remember, this has been brought to a conclusion a while ago when Ubisoft decided to leave Steam and join the Epic Games store with The Division 2.

However, now that Steam is out of the game, there will be fresher policies that apply to it. Therefore, in collaboration, Ubisoft and Epic Games have decided to agree on preventing third-party digital resellers to acquire game keys. No one’s certain if this would apply for a brief moment after release or it will alter indefinitely.

UK.GamesPlanet, which is considered to be one of those third-party resellers, has already notified its customers that The Division 2 won’t be available to buy after March 15 directly through their website. It is only available pre-release, and the same applies to any future DLC. In a response to this policy, Gamesplanet stated:

Sadly we have to announce you that Ubisoft will not allow digital third party stores, such as Gamesplanet, to sell Division 2 after its release on March 15th 2019. After this date, the game will digitally only be available through Ubisoft’s Store and another exclusive digital store. This will also be true for all upcoming game content such as Season Pass, Extensions, etc.

Take the opportunity to buy at Gamesplanet until March 15th 2019 and make use of the paysafecard promotion as this will be available until the game will be pulled from our stores.

We won’t be able to solve some support requests (e.g. key activated on the wrong Ubisoft account) after March 15th, as we won’t have any more keys to exchange/swap. Please address your support requests to Ubisoft directly for such cases.

Worry not, all purchases that have been completed on Gamesplanet will be honoured. This is also true for gifts, no matter if these have been picked up or not.

Obviously, we are not happy about this decision.

With that being said, The Division 2 will be exclusively available on Uplay and Epic Games’ store, giving players no other choice. We know that the majority of gamers are probably used to Steam, and lots of them are also frustrated seeing The Division franchise leaving that digital reseller.

Nevertheless, being a strict policy gives the consumers no other choice.
