The Day Before Negative Reviews and Why a Bottle of Whiskey Might Be a Better Investment

The Day Before, a highly anticipated zombie-based survival MMO, made its way into Early Access recently, and let’s say the reception was less than warm. With a staggering nearly 13,000 player reviews on Steam, the game is currently sporting the not-so-coveted title of Overwhelmingly Negative.

Players were vocal about their grievances, with many feeling duped by the game’s genre representation. Anticipated as an open-world survival game, The Day Before instead emerged as an extraction shooter, confined to a map that feels more like a backyard than a vast, post-apocalyptic landscape. This bait-and-switch left many players feeling like they were promised a zombie feast but ended up with just crumbs.

The troubles don’t stop there. Imagine gearing up for an epic zombie showdown, only to find your character stuck in a perpetual fall through the game’s fabric. Yes, that’s right, the game is riddled with bugs that would make even the sturdiest gamer cringe. Complaints about laggy online play leading to unfulfilling combat experiences are rife, and some players even report being soft-locked after falling through the game world.

FNTASTIC, the developer behind the game, has opted for radio silence, shutting down discussions in most channels of The Day Before’s Discord server. Citing the need to manage overwhelming toxicity, they’ve essentially put a ‘Do Not Disturb‘ sign on their digital door.

As frustration rises, some players suggest investing in a bottle of whiskey could be more rewarding than splurging on this game. This tongue-in-cheek advice might not be too far off the mark, considering the game’s current state.
