System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will arrive on consoles this June, but Nightdive Studios has just announced a delay affecting PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch versions. PC players will still get the remaster on June 26 as planned.
Initially announced in 2019, this remaster has been highly expected by fans of the classic 1999 first-person shooter. The news that cross-platform multiplayer was coming earlier this month had many assuming everything was on track for all platforms. However, Nightdive revealed on their Bluesky page that some “issues” have delayed the console launch.

Nightdive Studios stated, “We have encountered issues that have prevented us from launching System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster on consoles, including Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation, on June 26 as originally intended.“ They added that they are working quickly to solve these problems.
Thankfully, the PC release on Steam, GOG, Epic, and Humble remains scheduled for June 26. The new target window for consoles is within the first two weeks of July, though no exact date has been given yet.
It’s a bummer for console players, but the delay isn’t too long. Hopefully, the issues are minor and will be resolved soon enough. Nightdive has promised to provide updates once the console release date is confirmed.
If you’re unfamiliar, the remaster offers improvements like military branch selection, achievements, and other quality-of-life features, eager to refresh the classic experience for current audiences. Plus, those who pre-ordered the first remaster will receive the sequel at no extra cost.
