The upcoming Switch 2, launching in June, is poised to tackle two major problems on the Nintendo eShop that have long plagued users. Complaints about slow navigation and a clutter of low-quality titles have frustrated fans. In a recent developer roundtable, Nintendo confirmed that performance upgrades and features designed to make game discovery much easier are on the way.
Takuhiro Dohta, Nintendo’s senior entertainment planning and development director, shared insights about how the new hardware will transform the eShop experience. “Thanks to the system’s performance capabilities, Nintendo eShop on Switch 2 has been improved and runs smoothly even when displaying many games. We believe finding the game you want to play is part of the game system experience,” he explained.
To enhance discoverability, producer Kouichi Kawamoto introduced an exciting feature called “Game Finds for You.” This tool allows players to see screenshots and videos of games tailored to their interests. “With this feature, I think players will be able to easily find something interesting without having to search every nook and cranny of Nintendo eShop,” Kawamoto noted.
A sneak peek at this feature revealed that users will be shown a slideshow of recommendations based on various criteria, such as wishlist matches or trending titles among friends.
The Nintendo Switch 2 officially releases on June 5, with preorders beginning April 9. Gamers can choose between purchasing the console for $450 or a bundle with a digital copy of Mario Kart World for $500.
