Stunlock will stop new V Rising content to focus on a bigger vampire project

The studio said it will no longer produce content updates for V Rising — balance and bug fixes will continue while an early-stage follow-up set in the same world is developed.

On March 26, 2026, Stunlock Studios confirmed it had finished the planned content journey for V Rising and will not be delivering further content updates for the game. The studio said this decision comes not quite two years after release, as it shifts resources toward a new title set in the same vampire universe that it called its “most ambitious project yet.”

The developer explained that some early design choices that worked for V Rising had become limiting as new ideas emerged. In a Steam news post, Stunlock said it has been “experimenting in ways we haven’t been able to for a very long time” and is building new technical architecture to support what it described as a bolder vision for the Vampire world.

Stunlock added that the upcoming project remains very early in development and that it expects a lengthy wait before sharing more details. The studio also directly addressed modders, saying that after investigating mod support for the existing game it concluded the current structure does not allow it to deliver mod tools to the standard it wants for the community. The studio noted lessons from that exploration will inform future efforts.

The company reassured players that it is not abandoning the live game. V Rising will continue to receive balance and bug fixes as needed, following the pattern of previous hotfixes such as V Rising 1.1 Hot Fix 9, but no new content expansions are planned.

For now, the takeaway is that Stunlock is turning its attention to a fresh project that promises a deeper, darker world while leaving the current game in a supported but feature-complete state. Fans should expect future announcements only when the studio has substantial progress to share.
