Stellar Blade made quite a splash after its release on PC, breaking records previously held by other PlayStation exclusives that later arrived on PC. Hitting a peak of 183,830 concurrent players on Steam, this action game from SHIFTUP has caught much attention.
To put that into perspective, Ghost of Tsushima previously held the single-player peak with 77,154 concurrent players. Stellar Blade’s numbers are more than double that. It’s impressive, especially since the game has only been out on PC for over a year, while some other titles took years to reach their peaks.
Here’s how Stellar Blade compares with other major Sony PlayStation exclusives on PC:
- Stellar Blade – 183,830
- Ghost of Tsushima – 77,154
- God of War – 73,529
- Spider-Man Remastered – 66,436
- Horizon Zero Dawn – 56,557
- The Last of Us Part I – 36,496
- The Last of Us Part II – 30,690
- Spider-Man 2 – 28,189
Interestingly, while Sony publishes many of these games, Stellar Blade is not owned by Sony. SHIFTUP holds the IP, and the franchise’s partnership with PlayStation remains uncertain. A sequel has been confirmed, probably arriving in 2027.
One outlier among these figures is Helldivers 2, which has reached 458,709 concurrent players on PC, far surpassing all others. Following a recent update, it’s still drawing around 100,000 players nightly, boasting a larger PC player base than on PlayStation.
Stellar Blade also announced hitting 1 million sales within a month of its release. The PC launch included a new content pack and a free demo that likely helped boost sales. It’s currently the top-selling game on Steam. I find that pretty interesting, seeing a game get this kind of recognition is always fun.
I enjoyed Stellar Blade. I spent about 50 hours on two playthroughs, including New Game+. The developers have added updates since my playtime, like photo mode and many new outfits, maybe close to a hundred! It’s a solid action game, and I’m looking forward to what comes next.
