A Steam store page for Pickmon surfaced this week and its trailers, screenshots, and key art featured creatures and characters that resemble Pokémon species, Breath of the Wild era Link, and Overwatch designs, and the store page is available on Steam. Like, are we really getting a new game by Pocketpair that is very suimilar to its previous one and kind of a rip-off of Pokemon?
The listing identifies developer PocketGame and publisher Networkgo and describes Pickmon as an open world survival game where players “team up with your Pickmon to fight, farm, and build industrial empires.” The store materials repeat familiar survival hooks, and they also show the game capturing monsters via collectible cards rather than throwable balls.
Images and screenshots on the page include a rodent creature strongly resembling Pikachu, a plant creature that evokes Meganium, a serpentlike monster with clear Mega Rayquaza echoes, and a bulky character that borrows Roadhog’s silhouette. Other elements in the art read like direct visual callbacks to Palworld and The Legend of Zelda, including a tower topped by an aetheryte‑style crystal and a Link‑like figure wielding a modern submachine gun while surfing a flying drake.
While the visual inspirations are obvious, the store listing does not include a release date. Pickmon is currently listed for wishlisting on Steam and the developer has not posted a formal launch window. Legal risk for games that lean heavily on well known character designs tends to hinge on specific patent or trademark claims rather than general similarity in look and feel. Nintendo previously brought patent claims related to Palworld that targeted a specific catching mechanic implemented with throwable orbs, rather than broad visual likenesses.
