Starship Troopers: Extermination outlines Update 1.8 with Company progression, new map, and air strikes

The developer posted a Steam development update for Starship Troopers: Extermination today, laying out what to expect in Update 1.8, which is due in early December 2025 on PC. Update 1.8 introduces a Company Progression system where your Company can level through more than 50 tiers to unlock emblems and frames to display on leaderboards. Companies will be able to add extra slots so squads can grow, and Intel earned at the end of matches will contribute to Company leveling.

That progression aims to make the Company Leaderboards more visible, giving units a way to show off combinations of frames and icons as they climb tiers.

New Critical Strike map – Boreas

A new Critical Strike map named Boreas is arriving, set in frozen wastelands. It follows a tease shown during a previous livestream and looks built for tight, chilly firefights and map control plays.

Air Strikes side objective for ARC and AAS missions

Update 1.8 adds a side objective that lets teams defend Fleet Relays in the field to call in TAC Fighters for bombing runs on Bug hordes. The more Bugs taken out, the more XP the Federation gains. It sounds like a new way to swing a mission in your favor without relying on the main objective alone.

Quality of life and performance

The update also includes a batch of legacy bug fixes, various quality-of-life improvements, and a server optimization pass intended to smooth matchmaking and in-mission performance across the board. More granular patch details are due closer to the early December window.

This note follows our earlier coverage of the game’s October tease and other recent updates, which tracked the addition of new maps and bosses as the developer prepares for year-end support and events. For background on the October tease, see our October update story.

The development post finishes with a salute to the Federation and a reminder to keep rifles clean and courage high as the fight continues.
