Starfield’s ESRB Rating Unveils Post-Sex Dialogues, Drug Use, and More

As the excitement surrounding the release of Bethesda’s Starfield continues to grow, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has provided fans with new insights into the game’s content. Rated M for “blood, strong language, suggestive themes, use of drugs, and violence,” the game is geared toward mature audiences and is on track for its September 6 launch date.

The ESRB rating description offers a glimpse into Starfield’s open-world role-playing gameplay, with players assuming the role of a miner in search of Artifacts across the galaxy. Combat is fast-paced, featuring futuristic weapons to fight against enemies like humans, robots, and alien creatures. Blood splatter effects and environmental details, such as blood stains around corpses, paint a vivid, mature picture of the game’s atmosphere.

Starfield’s ESRB rating also reveals the game’s incorporation of suggestive content and post-sex dialogue. As players interact with various characters, some intimate encounters may occur. The rating hints at humorous and evocative post-sex conversations, such as “I’m all for getting a little wild, but next time let’s try it without the jetpacks” and “Talk about seeing stars, whew… that was amazing.”

A prominent aspect of Starfield’s storyline revolves around a fictional drug called Aurora. The ESRB rating suggests that players will encounter an illicit drug lab during their journey. They can obtain Aurora by stealing or purchasing it from vendors. Consuming the drug results in a distortion effect on the screen, adding another layer to the game’s mature content.

Featuring strong language such as “f**k” and “bullsh*t,” Starfield is not shying away from a more mature tone. The ESRB rating has provided fans with a clearer idea of the game’s content and themes, further fueling anticipation for its release.
