Starfield, developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, picked up a community-made weather overhaul mod by EloiMods published on August 30, 2025. The mod expands atmospheric options and changes timing so sunrises and sunsets last noticeably longer.
The mod aims to add more visual variety without removing the original palettes and mood. It introduces new cloud artwork and new precipitation sounds, and reworks lightning and snow effects to read differently across the map. The author maintains the base game’s feel while offering fresh combinations for various biomes and settlements.
In concrete terms, the mod adds a range of cloud sets, including six partly cloudy types, six cloudy types, one overcast type, and one rain formation, and features city- and town-specific lighting and atmosphere versions. It also slows the day-night cycle to 60% of the vanilla speed, so dawns and dusks last longer, and it adjusts the duration of weather events so conditions can change more frequently.
