Starfield Is Not Coming To PlayStation 5

According to Bethesda and Microsoft, Bethesda’s new and upcoming interstellar title, Starfield, is not coming to PlayStation 5. The video game is likely to be an Xbox exclusive, at least at launch. Bethesda’s SVP of global marketing and Xbox’s GM of games marketing, Pete Hines and Aaron Greenberg have both interpreted on the topic that seemed to indicate a Starfield PS5 release during the Bethesda Gamescom 2021 stream.

During the stream, Bethesda’s Pete Hines stated that “there are going to be some Bethesda games that you’re not going to be able to play on PlayStation.” On the Starfield question particularly, he answered, “it was announced as a thing that’s an Xbox exclusive, I don’t know if I would go so far as to say you’re done ever playing stuff on PlayStation. But again, I don’t know the answer to that right now.”

This move should be conceded as a part of the core marketing imbued by both console giants, Xbox and PlayStation. It’s all back and forth, and any discussion on this topic is just excessive. If the game was pitched as an Xbox exclusive, that further defends and justifies Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda. It’s a completely reasonable move by Microsoft.

Now back to Starfield, the game we’re all excited about:

After 25 years in Bethesda’s existence, this is the first entry in a completely different and unique universe. Skyrim had the same phenomena, and that’s why it was widely praised by the fans, hence its success. Bethesda tends to aim for something greater than just another ordinary game. Unique, exciting, and never-ending gameplay experience served on a plate. With all the statements gathered about the game, I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out with an implemented subscription model.

As an interstellar title, Starfield is one of the games demanding modern hardware and technology, and it is one of the reasons why the developers have plunged this far since its reveal. Even if the game is slated for November 2021 release, rumor has been whirling around that it might be delayed due to its vast and natural demanding course, resources, etc.
