Stalker 2 Studio Plans to Address Game’s ‘Rough Edges’

The recent launch of Stalker 2 has excited and concerned players. GSC Game World, the studio behind the game, has acknowledged its “rough edges” and promises improvements following a challenging development journey, including a relocation due to geopolitical tensions.

In their latest update, GSC Game World expressed pride in delivering what they describe as a “love letter to Ukraine.” However, they also recognized that despite the compelling world-building and storylines, Major issues had marred the game. Layers have experienced “constant performance issues” alongside many bugs that detract from the experience.

In a message shared on X today, GSC assured fans that their work is far from finished. They stated, “We understand that in such a game, there may still be rough edges: we haven’t released anything of this scale before.” This candid acknowledgment reflects their commitment to actively addressing player feedback.

The studio outlined an immediate plan for hotfixes to resolve critical issues after release promptly. Following these early updates, they intend to transition into larger patches focused on continual improvements and adding free in-game content. A roadmap for future content is expected later this December.

“We have big plans for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe,” GSC continued in their message. Their enthusiasm is tangible as they invite players into what they consider both a return and a new beginning within this storied franchise.

Stalker 2 has received mixed reception scores, with Metacritic ratings showing 74 for PC and 81 for Xbox Series X/S. Despite these criticisms, it achieved impressive player engagement on Steam, peaking at over 113,000 concurrent users shortly after launch.

This upcoming phase will test GSC Game World’s ability to turn around initial impressions while nurturing its community’s hopes for a more polished experience in the Next updates. As players gear up to explore the Zone further, all eyes will be on how effectively the developers can smooth out these rough edges.
