Square Enix has decided to cancel the Just Cause Mobile, an action-adventure game set in the Just Cause universe. Following numerous delays, the early access version will be pulled from digital stores today.

“It is with great sadness that we are announcing the end of development for Just Cause Mobile,” expressed Anne-Lou Grosbois-Favreau, Square Enix’s global brand lead on the Just Cause franchise.

Citing the intense disappointment of such a decision, Grosbois-Favreau addressed the dedicated fan base, stating, “As of tomorrow, July 3, 2023, the game will no longer appear on digital stores. It is never easy to put forth an announcement of this nature, especially to our fans who have been awaiting the release. We sincerely appreciate the support you have given us.”

Help needed! To nobody's surprise, Just Cause: Mobile has been officially discontinued. However, we are looking to preserve as much of the game as possible. So if anyone has the game installed on a rooted android phone, please reach out! You can of course hope for some compensation for your help!

Just Cause Mobile revealed at The Game Awards 2020, was initially promoted as a free-to-play, top-down action shooter offering both single-player and multiplayer modes. It was developed to bring the thrill and excitement of the Just Cause universe to mobile platforms. Despite the original release date set for 2021, several delays pushed the expected launch into 2023.

As per the game’s Google Play listing, which is still live at the time of publishing, Just Cause Mobile was set to feature a story campaign, a 30-person competitive multiplayer, and four-player cooperative missions.

The game was also expected to provide a unique movement system, leaning heavily on franchise staples like grapple guns, parachutes, and wing suits, echoing the explosive action and over-the-top stunts that fans of the Just Cause series have come to appreciate.

The cancellation of Just Cause Mobile signals a surprise move from Square Enix, and as fans and industry spectators await further announcements, the reasons behind the cancellation remain unclear.
