The US market witnessed a fascinating shuffle in October, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder emerging as the front-runners. The gaming landscape, ever so competitive, saw these titles not just excelling but reshaping consumer trends.
At the heart of this shift was Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a PS5 exclusive, which topped the monthly software sales chart and achieved a remarkable feat. Its sales in the first month soared beyond those of its 2018 predecessor, Spider-Man, by a significant margin, marking it as the fourth best-selling game of 2023.
Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a vibrant addition to the beloved Mario series, made an impressive entry at No. 2, relying solely on its physical sales. This is noteworthy as Nintendo keeps its digital sales cards close to the chest. This didn’t stop Mario Bros. Wonder from setting a record as the fastest-selling Super Mario game, with 4.3 million units flying off the shelves globally in the initial two weeks.
Seeing some discussion on Alan Wake II not being in the charts. Publisher Epic Games is not part of the DLP, so digital sales are not included.
Alan Wake II did not rank among the top 150 titles on either PS5 or XBS in Oct monthly active users, according to Circana's PET.

The gaming market also welcomed other new entries, each carving its niche. Assassin’s Creed Mirage, UFC 5, NHL 24, and others, added diversity and depth to the market.
