South of Midnight will reach PlayStation 5 players on March 31, 2026, Sony confirmed with a new trailer. The title first launched as an Xbox and PC exclusive in 2025 and is still available to subscribers on Game Pass. The PS5 arrival expands platform availability ahead of a planned release for Nintendo Switch 2.
Players control Hazel, a Weaver whose role is to repair broken bonds and tend to damaged spirits. The game leans into Southern folklore, populating its dark, fantastical world with strange creatures and haunted regions. Hazel fights dangerous beings while unearthing family secrets. Her objectives include rescuing her mother, saving her hometown, and using her Weaver powers to heal creatures and reveal their traumas.
The world contains several distinct Southern areas, including the decayed Prospero County, each with its own threats and mysteries. The game mixes combat against hostile entities with moments focused on mendings and revelations tied to character backstories. Microsoft has recently begun publishing more Xbox-era games on other platforms. Past and upcoming cross-platform examples include a strong PlayStation performance for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, a remake of the original Halo campaign coming to PlayStation, and the next Fable heading to PlayStation as well.
