January was the month when tons of big buck acquisitions were made. However, not all of them were closed, and one of them was also the acquisition of Bungie, the maker of Destiny. Sony’s acquisition of Bungie had finally concluded, with Bungie officially becoming part of the PlayStation family.

Sony decided to buy Destiny 2’s developer Bungie for $3.6 Billion, unlike Microsoft’s large-scale acquisition of Activision Blizzard and the whopping $70 billion deal. The confirmation for the closure was posted by PlayStation’s official Twitter profile.

While everyone welcomes Bungie to the PlayStation family, many people fear seeing exclusives coming back on the table. This is the third partnership for Bungie in total. Just a reminder for Bungie’s history. Bungie was owned by Microsoft, and later was part of Activision. After that, it was established as a standalone, independent developer and publisher. Now, Bungie is partnering with Sony for an acquisition worth $3.6 billion.

In the latest news, Bungie is reportedly working on a competitive e-sports ready first-person shooter game, set in the Destiny universe. Details are scarce, but this could be revealed now that the acquisition is finally finished.
