I was scrolling through gaming leaks when I stumbled upon some juicy news: Sony is about to cut prices on the PlayStation 5 and the PS5 Pro consoles! This is big because it’s the first time the PS5 Pro will get a discount since it launched. This might be it if you’ve been waiting for a sign to grab one.
PlayStation Discounts Galore
A data miner known as billbil-kun spilled the beans about the upcoming Days of Play event on May 28, where these discounts will go live. The PS5 Slim will receive its biggest price cut yet in Europe, and the PS5 Pro will get a solid 50 euros off.
- 100 euros discount on PS5 Slim consoles:
- PS5 Slim Standard Edition Console (with disc drive): €449.99 instead of €549.99.
- PS5 Slim Digital Edition Console (without disc drive): €399.99 instead of €499.99.
- 50 euros off the PS5 Pro console: €749.99 instead of €799.99.
- 50 euros off PSVR2 headsets: €399.99 instead of €449.99.
- Selection of DualSense controllers available at €54.99
Besides hardware, the PlayStation Plus subscription will also see discounts up to 30%. Pretty sweet if you’re into online multiplayer or monthly freebies.
It’s unclear which regions outside Europe will get these discounts or if the deals will vary elsewhere. But the timing is interesting—with Nintendo’s Switch 2 coming in with a shockingly high price and Xbox raising prices on consoles and games, PlayStation is kind of going the opposite direction by offering cuts.
I remember when the first Days of Play event rolled out years ago; it was a frenzy of deals and hype. Will this one live up to those memories? Yikes, I’m already tempted to grab a PS5 Pro, especially if this is the last big price cut.
