The speedy sequel raked in an impressive $60.1 million during its opening weekend and added another $9 million on Monday. If forecasts hold, Sonic could snag another $50 million between December 25-29. That’s quite a haul for our spiky friend!
In comparison, Mufasa trailed with an opening weekend take of only $35.4 million, followed by $7 million on Monday and potential earnings of around $45 million through Christmas. Ouch! Talk about being overshadowed.
