EA has announced that a couple of Need For Speed games will be removed from certain digital stores. Older Need For Speed titles will be permanently removed from digital storefronts and they won’t be available for purchase any longer.
The reason behind the removal is because of the low amount of players playing the games. Hence, it’s “no longer feasible to continue the work behind the scenes required to keep those titles running.”
All of the NFS titles removed from digital storefronts will also retire the online services. All of the games that are facing removal from storefronts and depletion of online services, can be found below. The removal of the titles will occur on May 31st, 2021, while the online services will stop running on August 31st, 2021. Until that date, players can still race their friends online.
Titles being removed from digital storefronts:
- NFS Carbon
- NFS Undercover
- NFS Shift
- NFS Shift 2: Unleashed
- NFS The Run
NFS titles that will continue breathing on digital storefronts:
- NFS Most Wanted
- NFS Rivals
- NFS 2015
- NFS Payback
- NFS Heat
- NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered
All of the remaining NFS titles are also available with EA Play Subscription, which can be found on Steam and Xbox Game Pass. As we know, Xbox Game Pass subscription gives you a full EA Play membership, which includes 10% off of full games, DLC, and more. Game Pass Ultimate members can use their discount in the Microsoft Store or EA Desktop Store, while Game Pass for PC members can only use their discount in the EA Desktop Store.
