Skate arrives on Xbox tomorrow: After 15 Years of Waiting This Is Just the Beginning

Skate by Full Circle enters Xbox Game Preview on September 16 with seasonal updates planned

Skate from Full Circle launches into Xbox Game Preview on September 16, arriving on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The early access release opens the game as a live project that will grow with seasons, new tricks, more multiplayer modes, and regular updates.

Head of Creative Jeff Seamster told Xbox “It has been a long time.” He says that while the team is adding new systems, the core skate design and creative play veterans expect remain central. The early version already allows players to create their own moments, build challenges, and invite strangers into impromptu sessions. That player-driven activity is a clear guiding idea for how the game will evolve.

Executive Producer Mike McCartney framed the roadmap in practical terms. “Having the ability to continue to expand on the game is probably the thing Im most excited about as we enter Early Access,” he said. “We will be releasing regular seasonal updates. Each one will be themed and contain new features, new stuff to skate, new content, new music and much more.” The team also plans themed events and ongoing quality-of-life updates to address bugs and the overall player experience.

San Vansterdam is designed to change – with daily Community Skateparks, rooftop secrets unlocked through climbing, and a Quick Drop tool that lets players place skateable objects anywhere. Full Circles longer-term plans and details are published on the developer news page, which outlines how seasons, temporary installations, and map growth will arrive over time. The verticality of the city means new routes and hidden parks may appear as development continues.

Many familiar tricks behave as expected and the team says some moves will arrive in specific seasons – for example, new Handplants and Impossibles in Season 2, and other tricks later. The game is free-to-play and will be available at launch; players can find Skate on the store. A separate store listing shows the platform details.

Early Access feels like the start of a conversation between players and developers – what people build, where they gather, and how they play will shape future seasons. The Quick Drop and community parks already make the city feel vibrant, and the team is watching to see what players gravitate to most. There isn’t a single finish line, rather the plan is steady additions and refinements over months and seasons.
