Even though the Switch’s successor is just around the corner, it seems Nintendo isn’t done with their beloved current-gen console. Word on the street is that we’ll be getting two remasters for the Switch after March 2025.
Now, we’ve all been hearing the whispers about Nintendo’s next-gen console, and it’s finally been confirmed that we’ll get an official reveal before April 2025. With the console rumored to drop in March next year, it’s clear that the Switch is winding down. But don’t bury it just yet, Nintendo still has some tricks up its sleeve.
First off, we’ve already seen Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door get a fancy remake, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD is coming soon. But it looks like Nintendo’s not stopping there. According to the well-known Nintendo leaker PH Brazil (shoutout to My Nintendo News for the scoop), two more remasters are on the way.
Here’s the kicker: one of these remasters is from the GameCube era, and the other is from the 3DS library. If you’ve been following the leaks, you’ll know there’s been a lot of chatter about a Kid Icarus: Uprising remaster. Fans are also holding out hope for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds or Metroid: Samus Returns to make a comeback. As for the GameCube remaster, all eyes are on Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. But hey, who wouldn’t want to see The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD or Twilight Princess HD make their way to the Switch?
Now, both these remasters are supposed to drop after March 2025. This move could keep the Switch relevant even after its successor hits the shelves. Remember how the 3DS kept chugging along after the Switch came out? Looks like Nintendo’s playing a similar game here.
Nintendo has also confirmed a Direct showcase in June, where they’ll spill the beans on what’s coming to the Switch in the latter half of 2024. So, stay tuned for more updates.
That’s the scoop, folks. If these remasters are anything like what we’re hoping for, it’s going to be a great time to be a Switch owner, even as we gear up for the next big thing from Nintendo.
