Rumor says Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War will be available on Game Pass at Launch

You know it’s getting real when the big dogs start talking about our favorite franchises. So, here’s the deal: this year’s Call of Duty game, supposedly titled Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War, might just be hitting Game Pass on launch day. Yeah, you heard me right. Game Pass, day one. Let that sink in for a second.

Microsoft’s been playing a long game with their Activision Blizzard acquisition, and while we’ve seen some heavy hitters like Diablo 4 make their Game Pass debut, Call of Duty’s been the elusive beast. But according to the Wall Street Journal, that’s about to change. They say we’ll get the official word during the Xbox Games Showcase in June. Mark your calendars, folks. This could be a game-changer.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. What does this mean for sales? The report mentions that Microsoft’s bracing for a hit in direct sales, but they’re banking on a surge in Game Pass subscribers. That makes sense. If you can get your hands on the latest CoD without shelling out extra cash, why wouldn’t you?

Here’s another spicy tidbit: Xbox president Sarah Bond has been doubling down on the promise that all first-party Microsoft games will hit Game Pass on day one. She even threw in Activision titles for good measure, though she didn’t drop Call of Duty by name. Keeping us on our toes, huh? Classic move.

And if you’re still hungry for more, there’s chatter about Microsoft rolling out a new Game Pass tier and bumping up the price. This might be the perfect storm of changes, all centered around our beloved Call of Duty.

The leaks say Black Ops Gulf War will have a fully open-world single-player campaign, thanks to Raven Software. Imagine that – a CoD game where you can roam freely and cause chaos in a sandbox environment. October can’t come soon enough.
