Big news from Rockstar Games: They acquired Video Games Deluxe, a studio that has been instrumental in bringing some of our favorite titles to life. This new chapter comes with a name change, as the studio will now be known as Rockstar Australia.
The announcement was made through a press release, which you can check out here. While the financial details of this acquisition remain under wraps, it’s clear that Rockstar is keen on strengthening their global presence.
Video Games Deluxe collaborated with Rockstar on several notable projects, such as the 2017 re-releases of L.A. Noire and L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files and updates for Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy—The Definitive Edition across various platforms, including iOS and Android.
Jennifer Kolbe, Rockstar Games’ Head of Publishing, expressed her excitement about this partnership: “After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia.”
The roots of this relationship trace back to Brendan McNamara’s previous venture, Team Bondi, which created the critically acclaimed detective thriller L.A. Noire. McNamara shared his thoughts on this new journey: “It’s been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade. We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.” You can feel the passion in his words!
