Roblox Corporation has announced the forthcoming release of its online game platform and creation system, Roblox, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Slated for a release in October, this marks an essential expansion for the platform.
Initially launched on PC in 2006, Roblox has since made waves across various platforms. It found its footing on iOS in 2012, followed by an Android release in 2014. Its journey into the console space began with an Xbox One debut in 2015, where it remains compatible with the latest Xbox Series X/S.
Interestingly, while the platform garnered massive success on these devices, Sony and Nintendo consoles have not featured Roblox until now. The announcement during a keynote address at the Roblox Developer Conference in San Francisco has undoubtedly stirred excitement amongst gaming enthusiasts.
“At long last, we announced that next month, more than 150 million console owners across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 will be able to access the full catalog of Roblox experiences,” the statement from Roblox Corporation conveyed.
Beyond the PlayStation inclusion, Roblox has also set its sights on enhancing the experience for Xbox users. The forthcoming updated Xbox app promises to deliver a refreshed look, consistent updates, superior content recommendations, and an overall heightened user experience.
In their statement, the company emphasized its commitment to broadening access: “Getting our developers’ experiences onto these two amazing platforms is a significant step toward making Roblox available on all of the most popular devices. And we’re not stopping there.”
