Roblox just shattered player records this weekend when an Admin War event between Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot pushed concurrent users past 47 million – a raw demonstration of how a platform full of user-made hits can still move numbers in a big way.
Tens of millions of players piled into Roblox for a limited-time event that paired the long-running Grow a Garden with the breakout Steal a Brainrot. The two games together helped push Roblox’s concurrent player count to 47 MILLION+, eclipsing the prior record set in June when Grow a Garden led the charge alone.
The Admin War is essentially a promotional event staged by Jandel (Grow a Garden) and SpyderSammy (Steal a Brainrot) to get players choosing sides and playing the special content. Those two titles accounted for more than 30 million concurrent players between them during the peak, and the wider spike put Roblox at the top for the highest CCU in gaming history.
In a post on LinkedIn, Roblox Strategist James Purell noted that despite recent PR headaches, developer-made experiences are the main driver behind those engagement numbers. He said Roblox now ranks as the largest gaming platform by concurrent users and called out the creators who keep players coming back.
Roblox is officially the largest gaming platform by concurrent users and also holds the record for highest CCU game in the world. While Roblox corporate deals with PR issues, developers like Jandel and Sammy are building experiences that millions of kids can’t stop playing. Yes, Roblox 100% needs to do better on safety, but these developers are creating the content that keeps 47M people engaged. They’re the real engine behind the numbers – not Roblox corporate.
Atlas Creative’s CEO Michael Herriger shared a similar shout-out to the dev community, saying the current moment looks like the future of gaming unfolding in plain sight.
No single commercial game comes close to the scale Roblox hit this weekend – it behaves more like an ecosystem of UGC titles than a single product. Players picked a side, enjoyed the crossover content, and for a short while the platform looked like pure chaos in the best way possible.
Which side did you pick in the war between Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot? Maybe you’re on Jandel’s team. Perhaps you’re Team Sammy. Maybe you just wanted the free stuff. Kinda fun, right?
