Riot Games, the company behind League of Legends, has announced that they’ve started development for an upcoming MMORPG game set in Runeterra – the world of League of Legends. This was confirmed by Greg Street, the VP of Intellectual Property and Entertainment for Riot Games, in a Twitter post:

I have news!

My recent job at Riot has been to help develop the League universe, which we’re going to need!

Because it is time. My new job is to kick off a big (some might say massive) game that many of you, and many Rioters, have been asking us to create.

PS We’re hiring

Another Twitter user asked if the game would be an MMO, and Street replied with an affirmative answer!

It is an MMO

One user asked if the MMO would be an RPG, and according to Polygon, Riot Games will be making an MMORPG.

With Ruined King: A League of Legends story arriving sometime in 2021, Riot Games have made an effort to start development for another game. This MMORPG has already been rumored and hyped by the League of Legends community for some time now.

The universe of League of Legends is intense and filled with lore and stories. From the glorious Demacia to the merciless Noxus, from the rising city of Piltover to the intoxicated depths of Zaun, from the fallen Shurima to the cold lands of the Freljord, Runeterra has it all!

I've spent half of my life playing video games, ever since the competitive 1.6 era. Now I am happily married to Margarita Kicevski, and have two beautiful children. My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
