Recent Leak of “PMC Karma” in Escape From Tarkov Debunked by Developer

Escape From Tarkov, the hyper-realistic first-person shooter developed by Battlestate Games has been known for its immersion. Just when we thought we had figured out all the twists and turns the game had to offer, a peculiar incident stirred the community. A feature, which appeared to be labeled “PMC Karma,” was accidentally revealed to a player. This sparked debates and speculations about a potential new game mechanic.

The “PMC Karma” system, as understood from the accidental glimpse, hinted at a mechanism where players could be penalized for killing members of their own PMC faction, such as BEAR or USEC. This implied a system that encouraged players to identify and possibly cooperate with members of their faction rather than resorting to a “kill-on-sight” approach which is prevalent in the current state of the game.

Before the rumor mill could go into overdrive, a timely intervention came from an unexpected source. Glorious_E, one of the most influential streamers for EFT, was notified by BSG that the “PMC Karma” mechanic was indeed a bug and not an intended feature. As per them, aside from the Scav karma, there are no plans to introduce such a new PMC Karma mechanism to the game.

This confirmation put a whirlwind of speculations to rest, even if it disappointed some fans. The revelation also serves as a reminder of the complexities and unexpected challenges of game development, where not everything that appears on the screen is a deliberate choice or hint at future updates.
