Razer launched the Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition this week, reviving company’s first mouse designed specifically for gaming in a serialized run of just 1,337 units. The original Boomslang arrived in 1999 with a 2,000 DPI sensor, an ambidextrous shape, and onboard settings that helped define what a gaming mouse could be. The new 20th Anniversary model keeps the retro silhouette but loads modern hardware under the hood.
The Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition uses Razer’s Focus Pro 45K Optical Sensor Gen-2 with up to 45,000 DPI, 900 IPS tracking, and 85G acceleration. Razer fitted Gen-4 optical main switches, added wireless operation with an 8,000Hz polling rate, and enabled wireless charging through the Mouse Dock Pro. The primary buttons get a PU leather covering and the shell is a translucent plastic that nods to the original 90s design.
Software features include dynamic sensitivity, rotation calibration, and single-step DPI adjustments similar to the Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro, bringing contemporary tuning options to a retro package. Razer limited the drop to 1,337 serialized devices. Interested buyers must sign up for notifications on Razer’s product page to learn the exact drop date. Razer has not disclosed MSRP or shipping dates.
