PUBG Battlegrounds has introduced a limited-time dating sim named Winner Winner Romantic Dinner to celebrate April Fool’s Day. While the entire premise is designed as a joke, this genuine dating experience can be played on the PUBG website until April 29.
This whimsical creation comes from Krafton’s AI game development studio, ReLU Games. Players take on the role of students attending a school where they seek romance among characters that are human representations of PUBG’s weapons. Expect to meet Molly Tova, inspired by Molotov Cocktails, and AUG-chan, based on the AUG rifle, who also plays in the school band called AWSD.
The game encourages players to use microphones for mic-based mini-games, although participation in these activities remains optional. Three different endings are available; achieving each will grant players 10 Contraband Coupons to use in PUBG Battlegrounds alongside a nameplate featuring one of the game’s girls. Completing all three endings unlocks additional rewards: a new spray, emblem, and 500 G-Coin.
The description amusingly notes: “Your trusted firearms – those who have fought alongside you, sharing victories and defeats – are no longer just tools of war. Now, they are special beings who can spend time with you, share their feelings, and maybe, just maybe, steal your heart.”
In addition to this quirky dating sim experience, an in-game event named Land, Love, Survive will run until April 8 and promote cooperative gameplay within PUBG Battlegrounds.
PUBG isn’t alone in this playful spirit surrounding April Fool’s Day. Last year saw an announcement from Palworld’s developer Pocketpair about a ‘fake’ dating game called Palworld: More Than Just Pals. This year it made waves again with an actual Steam page suggesting it might become a real project. According to its Steam description, Palworld: More Than Just Pals is said to be a “dream school romance” sim where players can befriend Pals or decide whether to romance them or eat them.
