PS5 Update Introduces Accessibility Tags to PlayStation Store

Sony has introduced a new update for the PS5, incorporating Accessibility Tags into the PlayStation Store to help players identify the accessibility options available in various games. According to the PlayStation Blog, game developers can now offer detailed information about their games’ accessibility options through these tags, which players can access by pressing the triangle button on a game’s PlayStation Store page.

The update offers over 50 Accessibility Tags, grouped into six categories: Visual, Audio, Subtitle and caption, Control, Gameplay, and Online communication. These tags allow players to determine whether a game offers accessibility features, making it easier for those needing specific accessibility options to purchase games.

Initially, several first-party PlayStation titles will feature the Accessibility Tags, such as Days Gone, Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut, God of War, God of War Ragnarok, Gran Turismo 7, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Returnal. Sony is actively collaborating with developers to incorporate Accessibility Tags into more games available on the PlayStation Store.

Accessibility Tags will be available for PS5 and PS4 games on the PlayStation Store for PS5. For games with both PS5 and PS4 versions, players can compare the Accessibility Tags via a dropdown menu. The tags cover various accessibility features, such as visual and audio accessibility settings, DualSense controller options, difficulty settings, and online communication features like chat transcription.
