Sony has released a new PS5 firmware update, 25.06-12.00.00, that adds DualSense wireless controller pairing across multiple devices and a Power Saver mode to reduce energy use while gaming. The patch size is modest, and manual-install options are available, allowing households to opt in on their own schedule.
Availability began on Wednesday, 17th September 2025, at 8:15 a.m., and distribution will vary by region. At roughly 1.3GB, the patch should download and install automatically if consoles are left in Rest Mode and the appropriate settings are switched on.
Sony previewed the feature during beta testing, and the beta preview blog post explains how DualSense pairing works across multiple devices.
Manual installation appears possible via the system menus. Power Saver mode reduces performance to lower power consumption, and it has been linked by some reports to future handheld hardware plans.
Power Saver activation steps after installing the patch:
- Go to Settings > System.
- Select Power Saving > Power Saver for Games.
- Turn on Use Power Saver and select which games to run with Power Saver enabled.
