Sony reveals FlexStrike fight stick for PS5 and PC with wireless support and custom features.

FlexStrike, previously known as Project Defiant. This new controller is designed specifically for fighting games on PS5 and PC, and it comes equipped with some notable features that should appeal to both competitive players and casual button mashers.

The initial reveal occurred during the State of Play event in June 2025, where it was only known as a custom wireless controller. Now, Sony has shared more concrete details about what FlexStrike offers.

What FlexStrike Brings to the Table

FlexStrike supports both wired and wireless connections through PlayStation Link, featuring ultra-low latency wireless tech. Mechanical switch buttons promise a satisfying tactile feel, and it comes with toolless swappable restrictor gates, square, circle, and octagon shapes are included. These gates fit neatly into built-in storage compartments inside the fight stick. Alongside the controller, you get a sling carry case, a USB-C cable, and a built-in rechargeable battery.

Improved PlayStation Link Functionality

FlexStrike’s PlayStation Link USB adapter now supports USB-C ports, and here’s a cool twist: a single adapter can connect both a FlexStrike fight stick and a Pulse Elite wireless headset or Pulse look at wireless earbuds simultaneously on PS5. Even better, you can connect two FlexStrike fight sticks with just one adapter. That’s pretty slick if you’re into local versus action.

Durability Meets Customization

The fight stick sports an ergonomic, durable design with angled surfaces and a non-slip base for stability during intense matches. It includes a high-quality, custom digital stick. Interestingly, when FlexStrike is connected, you can still use your DualSense wireless controller on PS5 for easier navigation. The fight stick also mimics DualSense inputs, including the touchpad.

Customization options include a lever-mode switch to swap directional inputs and a lock button to prevent accidental movements mid-match. Additionally, FlexStrike can wake your PS5 console once it’s synced, which is a handy feature.

If you want to check it out in person, FlexStrike will be on display at Evo 2025 in Las Vegas. It’ll be shown alongside its sling carry case at the Fight Stick Museum and Arc System Works booth. The fight stick’s release is planned for 2026, so there’s still some waiting to do.
