Redfall Story Trailer

In a recent appearance on Kinda Funny’s Xcast, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, candidly discussed the poor launch of Redfall, a highly anticipated game from Arkane Austin. Fans have been disappointed with the game’s performance, and Spencer took full responsibility for its shortcomings.

During the interview, Spencer admitted his disappointment, saying, “There’s nothing more difficult for me than disappointing the Xbox community, and just to watch the community lose confidence, be disappointed, I’m disappointed, I’m upset with myself.” He discussed revisiting the game’s development process and learning from the experience to improve future releases.

Spencer emphasized his continued support for Arkane Austin and highlighted their strong track record. He believes it’s too simplistic to say that a delay of a few months would have significantly improved the game’s core creative aspects. Instead, Spencer focuses on the need for improvement in quality and execution while maintaining support for the creative aspirations of development teams.

Despite the negative reception, Spencer confirmed that they are not abandoning Redfall. The team at Arkane is actively working on feedback from players, focusing on achieving 60 FPS gameplay. He also mentioned Xbox’s commitment to games like Sea of Thieves and Grounded, acknowledging the $70 price tag and taking full responsibility for delivering a quality product.
