Patch 11.2 Will Remove Some Rare WoW Items During Bank Upgrade

Blizzard details which old WoW items will vanish with the upcoming bank update in patch 11.2.

Blizzard is about to clean house in World of Warcraft with patch 11.2, focusing on a bank upgrade that will delete some really rare and old items. These aren’t your everyday junk, but ancient keys and cosmetic helms that stopped working ages ago and only a handful of players still keep tucked away in their Void Storage. If you happen to own any of these relics, you might want to check on them before the update hits.

Here’s the deal: Blizzard has been working on converting the character bank system, and as part of that, they’ve confirmed that certain deprecated items will disappear. These include items such as the Jewel of the Firelord, Crown of Eternal Winter, and Hood of Hungering Darkness, all cosmetic helms that ceased to function as items when they were transferred to the Collections system. Players noticed they vanished from their inventory back then, but if you were sneaky enough to stash them in Void Storage, they’ve been hanging around ever since.

Only a tiny number of players still have these items in Void Storage. If you pull them out into your inventory right now, they’ll vanish the next time you log in. And if you don’t touch them, the upcoming bank conversion in patch 11.2 will handle the disappearing act for you.

Blizzard thanked players who helped test this process and mentioned that they even caught an interesting false positive during the checks. It’s clear they’re trying to tidy up space that’s being wasted on items that no longer serve a purpose. Yikes, that’s gotta sting if you’re one of the few holding onto these ancient keys or helms.

Wonder why anyone would keep those around? Maybe nostalgia or the hope that someday they’d mean something again. But Blizzard’s cutting the cord here. So if you’re curious, now’s the time to see what’s lurking in your Void Storage before patch 11.2 hits.

Want to talk about your rare WoW items or share if you still have any of these cosmetic helms?
