Palworld’s PR lead is still sold on Crimson Desert after a month packed with big releases
John "Bucky" Buckley called Pearl Abyss's RPG his game of the month and said Slay the Spire 2 would have taken over his time in almost any other month.

Pocketpair communications lead John “Bucky” Buckley has kept singing Crimson Desert’s praises, and on March 31, 2026, he called it his favorite game of the month.
In a post shared on March 31, 2026, Buckley said, “My favourite game of March 2026 was Crimson Desert,” before adding that the open-world RPG stood out even during a crowded release stretch that included Marathon, Pokopia, and Slay the Spire 2 early access. He later summed up his view with a sharp line: “Slay the Spire 2 is a masterpiece. Any other month and it would have consumed my life…but Crimson Desert truly makes me feel a sense of wonder I’ve not felt since Oblivion.”

Also shout out to other March greats:

Mr Farmboy— Bucky | Palworld (@Bucky_cm) March 31, 2026
That is not Buckley’s first show of support for Pearl Abyss’s game. A couple of weeks earlier, he described Crimson Desert as his “dream game,” saying he was loving it and felt it was made for him.
He also singled out a pair of smaller March releases, including the open-world survival crafting game Blossom: The Seed of Life and the colony farming game Mr Farmboy. Buckley had already praised Blossom: The Seed of Life in another comment, linking it as one of the indie projects that caught his attention.
Crimson Desert’s reception has been mixed overall, with some players praising its visuals and others pointing to rough edges in the story and controls. The game’s Steam rating has since climbed to “very positive” after a pair of patches and the removal of AI-generated assets. We also recently looked at Pearl Abyss discussing multiplayer trade-offs for the game in our earlier Crimson Desert coverage.
