Palworld, developed by Pocketpair, is familiar to Pokemon but offers survival and crafting. The game, indeed, is “Pokemon With Guns“. However, once we went full in, we could reveal that there’s not much to do in the game at this very moment.
The game is set in an open-world setting full of wildlife and mysteries. Players explore a sandbox environment with a guided narrative. The storyline is written into the world through environmental signals and scattered journal entries, allowing players to uncover the lore at their own pace.
Players are tasked with building a base, crafting tools, and recruiting creatures known as Pals. Each Pal is unique, possessing unique traits and abilities that contribute to the player’s survival and base development. This system is sound because it urges players to consider each Pal’s role and the overall structure of their base.
The world of Palworld is amazing. From tall mountains to hot deserts and caves (dungeons), each has surprises. What’s exciting is that besides pals, players can engage in Alpha Pals, creatures that provide an opportunity to enhance one’s Pals collection. But, in the end, it’s just Pokemon With Guns, once again.
Despite its unique elements, Palworld is not without flaws. Currently, the game needs improvements in early access. The combat system suffers from weird mechanics and enemy behavior. Managing the base and Pals’ tasks can sometimes feel cumbersome, indicating a need for a more intuitive interface and system.
Visually, Palworld impresses with its rich, aesthetic, and detailed creature designs, even though most resemble Pokemons. The presentation and world-building are strong, though performance optimizations, particularly in variable weather conditions, would improve the overall experience.
In its current state, Palworld presents a solid product with huge potential for growth and evolution. Even though dubbed ‘Pokemon With Guns,’ it offers a complex and engaging world that combines survival, crafting, and creature collecting. It will most likely improve as Palworld continues to develop and respond to player feedback.
