Painkiller is returning on PS5 this October, bringing its fast-paced, chaotic combat to a new generation. Saber Interactive and 3D Realms have set the release date for October 9, 2025, and alongside the announcement, a new trailer showcases some gameplay and pre-order bonuses.
The original Painkiller was developed by People Can Fly, known for titles like Bulletstorm and Outriders. This upcoming release is a reboot that retains some familiar settings and mechanics from the classic series, so fans might find some nostalgic touches amid the new features.
Players can jump into the action solo or team up in co-op mode, battling through Purgatory with various powerful weapons. Each weapon offers primary and secondary firing modes, adding versatility to combat encounters. The trailer highlights this weaponry in action, giving a glimpse of the frantic pace and brutal combat fans expect from the franchise.
Pre-orders have already opened on the PlayStation Store, with the standard edition priced at £34.99/$39.99. An exclusive Iron Crusade skins pack is available as a pre-order bonus, adding some extra flair to your arsenal.
