Two months after Escape from Tarkov reached version 1.0, just 10,489 players have managed to finish the game and reach its ending, Battlestate Games director Nikita Buyanov confirmed on January 14, 2026. Buyanov posted on X that “10489 players escaped fromTarkov so far. Beasts! 🫡” and linked the studio’s progress update. The post is the primary source for the official finish count.

The final ending requires completing the game’s new campaign and then surviving a final gauntlet through the Terminal map. The last mission includes a boat extraction with limited seats. Because extraction seats can be scarce, not every squad member is guaranteed to get onto the vessel. That can force one or two players back to the lobby for another run at the gauntlet. The first recorded full escape came two weeks after 1.0 when streamer Tigz finished the campaign live while Battlestate staff watched the broadcast.
Estimating how many players could attempt the ending is tricky because Tarkov spans several platforms. Steam usually peaks around 25,000-30,000 concurrent players, and Buyanov previously suggested PvP and PvE numbers that would put total concurrent players much higher on busy evenings. In August 2025, he cited roughly 45,000 PvP players on a random Sunday and claimed PvE might add another 30,000 to 40,000. Those figures come from Battlestate commentary collected in earlier reporting and would imply that only a small fraction of active players have yet completed the campaign.
Despite millions of owners overall, the 10,489 finishers represent a clear minority among Tarkov players. The ending is intentionally difficult and structured to be a major accomplishment. For many players the final run through Terminal will take multiple attempts, and the boat’s limited capacity adds an extra layer of tension. If you’ve managed to escape, the community is still sharing runs and endings across social platforms and streaming sites.
