Nvidia’s DLSS 5 trailer ran into a bogus copyright block on YouTube

The takedown affected Nvidia's own reveal video and also hit creators who used the footage before La7 eventually lifted the claims.

Nvidia’s official DLSS 5 reveal video was blocked on YouTube after a copyright claim from Italian broadcaster La7, and the issue spread to creators who had used the same footage in their own videos.

The first public complaints surfaced on April 6, 2026, when creator Scrubing wrote on X that TeamYouTube was dealing with what he described as copyright abuse tied to La7. In the same post, Scrubing said his own video had been falsely struck and taken down after he used footage from the DLSS 5 reveal.

Other creators ran into the same problem. Destin Legarie said he published his video on March 16, La7 later used the footage on April 4, and then his channel received a copyright claim. He also pointed to YouTube’s standard response telling him to wait for the claimant to respond within 30 days, which did little to explain why the original source material was being flagged in the first place.

The blocked upload was Nvidia’s March 16 DLSS 5 announcement video. The company has framed DLSS 5 as part of its push into generative AI-based graphics tools, and the feature is still planned for later this year. For more details on the rollout itself, see our earlier DLSS 5 overview.

After several hours, La7 released the disputed videos, and Nvidia’s announcement was viewable again in Italy and elsewhere. As of the latest update in the source material, Nvidia had not issued a public statement about the copyright claims.

There is still no clear explanation for how the broadcaster ended up claiming the footage, but the incident is another reminder that Content ID mistakes can hit official uploads and fan-made coverage alike. Tell us what you think in the comments, and join us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
