Nintendo released system update 21.0.1 for the Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch, a small maintenance patch that addresses specific system-transfer and connectivity bugs rather than adding new features.
The company posted the details on the Nintendo support page. This follows a string of minor firmware refreshes earlier in the year, including the system update 20.4.0 and the stability-focused 20.5.0, which also targeted backend and stability fixes for both Switch consoles. You can read our coverage of the prior releases for more context, including the system update 20.4.0 details and the system update 20.5.0 release.
Patch Notes – 21.0.1
- Fixed an issue where Error Code: 2011-0301 or Error Code: 2168-0002 would repeatedly occur on a Nintendo Switch when attempting a system transfer using local communication from a Nintendo Switch system to a Nintendo Switch 2 system.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes, after waking up the system from Sleep Mode or turning off Airplane Mode, wireless controllers or Bluetooth audio devices were unable to connect.
- General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.
There are no new user-facing features in this release. The update is aimed at resolving the system transfer failure tied to the two error codes and intermittent connection problems for wireless controllers and Bluetooth audio devices.
