Nintendo has officially announced the retail price for its Switch 2 Editions of favorite titles like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Kirby and The Forgotten Land, setting it at $80. This news comes as part of a recent pre-order information release regarding software for the new console.
Various US retailers have confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will cost $80, as will other titles such as Super Mario Party Jamboree. Interestingly, based on current listings, the original version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be priced slightly lower at $70.
Nintendo’s pricing model appears inconsistent. For instance, while Mario Kart World will retail for $80 (£75) in physical form, digital prices vary with titles like Donkey Kong Bananza, which can be found at $65/£58.99 digitally and $70/£66.99 physically. Currently, there’s no clarity on why these discrepancies exist.
The new Editions promise enhancements such as better visuals or exclusive features than standard versions. It’s important to note that these games differ from standard backward compatibility for existing Switch players—they must either be purchased separately or upgraded from previous versions.
Nintendo hasn’t shared specifics about upgrade costs yet; however, Nintendo Switch Online service subscribers will receive free upgrades for both Zelda games.
