For fans of classic Nintendo RPGs, the gaming giant has confirmed an HD remaster of the acclaimed “Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door“. The announcement was made to break all the rumors that had been circulating for months.
“The Thousand-Year Door“, which was first released in 2004 for the GameCube, has always held a special place in the hearts of gamers. Celebrating two decades since its debut, Nintendo plans to launch the remastered version in 2024.
The game chronicles the adventures of Mario, who embarks on a quest to rescue Princess Peach from a nefarious group of extraterrestrials known as the X-Nauts. As with many of Mario’s adventures, players can expect a perfect blend of humor, challenging puzzles, and engaging combat sequences.
Upon its original release, “The Thousand-Year Door” was met with widespread critical acclaim, scoring a remarkable 87 on Metacritic. Its unique blend of 2D paper-style animation with intricate 3D worlds, combined with an engaging storyline, made it a standout in the Mario RPG series. Over the years, its fanbase has only grown, many of whom assert that it’s the pinnacle of Mario’s role-playing ventures.
However, “The Thousand-Year Door” is not the only title from Mario’s past that’s getting a modern touch. Nintendo has also teased a complete remake of the SNES title “Super Mario RPG“. This beloved classic is set to make its grand return on November 17.
