Team Ninja confirmed on X that the Ninja Gaiden 4 expansion The Two Masters will arrive on March 4, 2026. The base game launched in October 2025 and Team Ninja plans to extend the story with three new chapters that continue Yakumo and Ryu’s fight against ever more dangerous fiends. The expansion will introduce new bosses and trials that push the two protagonists through tougher combat encounters, and two named weapons will arrive with the DLC. Yakumo gains the Solitaire scythe, built for crowd control. Ryu will receive the Jakotsumon serpent gauntlets, aimed at fast close-quarters play and rapid melee exchanges.

A new endurance challenge called Abyssal Road will send players through 100 unique combat encounters, and Encounters draw enemies from both the base game and the DLC. Two new mechanics alter encounters dynamically. Special Blood Essence will appear as a new resource that changes how fights play out and Frenzied enemies add altered behavior patterns that raise risk and reward across runs. Quality-of-life improvements and fixes ship alongside the expansion. Team Ninja says the patch will include combat responsiveness improvements, new weapon set customization options, and fixes across multiple chapters to smooth the campaign experience.
Players who bought the Deluxe Edition or purchased the Deluxe Upgrade receive The Two Masters at no extra charge. Other players can buy the DLC for $14.99 on March 4, 2026. Watch the release date reveal trailer below.
The studio’s announcement comes amid a year of changes for the series. Team Ninja’s first leader, Tomonobu Itagaki, the director behind Dead or Alive and the 2004 Ninja Gaiden, passed away in October 2025.
