EA Sports just announced NHL 26 will hit shelves this September, breaking the trend of October releases we’ve seen since 2019. The Standard Edition will be available on September 12, while the Deluxe Edition grants early access starting September 5.
It’s interesting that after five straight October launches, they’re pulling the game out earlier this year. Maybe they want to get ahead of the hockey season hype or just shake things up a bit. Either way, it’s a welcome change for fans who hate waiting.
NHL 26 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you were hoping to lace up skates on PC or the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, you’re out of luck for now — those platforms will have to wait at least another year. Yikes, that’s a bummer for PC players who’ve been craving the latest ice action.
The game promises a revamped Be-A-Pro mode, ICE-Q 2.0 gameplay improvements, and fresh HUT seasons. Oddly, there was no word on updates to the franchise mode, which has always been a fan favorite. Are they holding back or just saving it for a later reveal? Guess we’ll find out eventually.
So, are you planning to pick up NHL 26 when it launches on September 12?
