Bethesda may be preparing to bring back the Wolfenstein franchise with a new mainline entry. Windows Central reports that Wolfenstein 3 is “on the cards,” and that the timing could match the Amazon TV adaptation announced in June 2025.
It is not clear which studio would lead development. MachineGames has handled the last five Wolfenstein releases and has already given fans a tease about the series’ future. The studio’s game director, Jerk Gustafsson, has previously framed the modern reboot as a planned trilogy. In a documentary clip he said, “I think this is important to say, because we have always seen this as a trilogy,“ and added, “I think that’s important to say, because – at least, I hope – that we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet. We have a story to tell.“
The most recent Wolfenstein releases were the spin-off Wolfenstein: Youngblood and the VR title Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot in 2019, while the last mainline game was Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus in 2017. Any new entry would arrive after a multi-year gap for the series.
The Amazon series was first revealed in June 2025, but Amazon and the production team have not published details on the show’s premise or a release window yet. Variety covered that announcement and the production partnership in its June writeup, which provides the official confirmation of the TV project.
