New Witcher and Cyberpunk Titles Will Begin Development in 2022

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the world of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher is far from over. Instead, the developer is planning to expand their life span in the future by developing a new Witcher and Cyberpunk IP to endorse its predecessors. More precisely, the year 2022 will be the one in which the boot will transpire.

In a recent interview with a Polish outlet Rzeczpospolita, CD Projekt Red’s CEO Adam Kicinski said that that Cyberpunk 2077 was the most complicated project in CD Projekt Red’s 27-year history, but he also revealed that CD Projekt Red is currently focusing on their two big franchises, and that is Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher.

In his words, “We are currently focusing on our two franchises. Both have enormous potential, so one of our strategic goals is to start working on AAA (large, high-budget productions – ed.) Projects in parallel within our IPs, which is expected to happen next year.”

Adam Kicinski revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t be receiving any more updates because the studio is focusing extremely hard on the next generation of consoles; which next update planned for early 2022 should improve the game by a lot.

While all of this is understandable with the studio focusing on its dearest and big money-making franchises, it would be a hit and miss to see another rushed video game title coming from CD Projekt Red rows, especially after the failure of Cyberpunk 2077. The two flagship franchises, The Witcher and Cyberpunk, are likely to get a new game series in the near future, rather than receiving updates for the existing video game titles.
